Toshiba Motor Drivers Types

Brush: High Voltage & Micro Motor Bridge Drivers

The Toshiba high-voltage bridge driver product line is targeted at wall power applications such as vending machines, slot machines, printers and small appliances. The H-bridge products utilize Toshiba Bipolar and BiCD processes to provide single and multi-channel bridge drivers with current capacities up to 4.5 Amps and up to 30 volt supply voltages. Devices are available with both a 2-pin bridge control and control through a serial input.

The Toshiba micro-motor driver line is targeted at low-power applications such as digital drivers and bridge configurations, some of which include DC/DC converters aimed at driving the motors and coils typically found in battery-driven applications. The devices are highly integrated, including up to 6 channels of bridge driver in a package with up to 48 pins.

Available features include Thermal Shutdown, Over-Current Protection, Low On Resistance (LDMOS), Built-in Charge Pump, PWM Control, and Standby (Power Save).

Brushless Drivers & Sinewave Controllers

The Toshiba sine wave product line contains products designed to drive intelligent power devices or IGBTs. They combine waveforms necessary to drive brushless DC motors with the sine wave output for lowest noise and maximum efficiency. Newer products have now been introduced that include necessary power devices needed to drive the motor directly. Available features include Thermal Shutdown, Over-Current & Brown-Out Protection, Sine Wave PWM (Silent Drive), Lead Angle Control, Ready Signal Output, Built-in Regulator, Triangle Wave Generator, & FG Amplifier. Typical applications include high-efficiency air conditioners, dishwashers, refrigerators, fans and washing machines.

Stepping Motor Drivers

The Toshiba stepping motor products utilize the Toshiba BiCMOS and BiCD processes to provide stepping motor drivers capable of driving multiple-phase stepping motors targeted for printer and fax machines. BiCD is a low-power process that enables drive currents of up to 3 Amps with supply voltages as high as 40 volts. Other available features include Sinusoidal micro step, Mixed Decay Mode, Thermal & Over-Current Protection, POR, Power Saving Operation, PWM input control, and built in regulator.
