UV Detectors

UV LEDs are becoming more prevalent in the industry replacing old technology such as mercury lamps. As a result, the need for UV detection is also increasing. Marktech UV detectors are offered in a variety of TO metal-can type packages from TO-18 to TO-39 with special UV glass lens to insure optimum lifetime and the least amount of material degradation. Our deep UV detectors are based on SiC photodiodes with a responsivity range from 210nm to 355nm.

Our Si UV enhanced detectors offer sensitivity ranges from 250nm – 1100nm. These die can be packaged individually in a variety of hermetically sealed packages or multiple die can be integrated in a custom package to suit your specific application. Marktech UV detectors offer superior stability over time and high device sensitivity with low dark current.

Marktech Optoelectronics is proud to present its advanced line of UV Detectors, specifically designed to meet the high demands of a variety of scientific and industrial applications. We offer two main types of UV detectors: Silicon Carbide (SiC) photodiode-based detectors and UV-enhanced silicon photodiode detectors, each with its unique set of advantages tailored to different use-cases. A UV detector require a special glass lids or lens, which allow transmission of UV light with minimal absorption. Marktech has carefully engineered the cap and lens of their UV detector to optimize performance.

Our Silicon Carbide (SiC) photodiode-based UV detectors are revered for their exceptional sensitivity and robustness. SiC material inherently offers high thermal stability and radiation hardness, making these detectors well-suited for high-temperature applications or environments with intense radiation. Additionally, SiC photodiodes are highly selective for deep UV wavelengths, which allows for very low levels of ultraviolet light sensitivity. This makes them ideal for applications such as flame detection and UV sterilization, where visible light can be a confounding variable. SiC detector are sometimes considered “solar blind” or insensitive to visible light, which can be useful in specific applications.

On the other hand, our UV-enhanced silicon photodiode detectors provide a cost-effective yet high-performance option for many UV detection applications. However, they cannot detect as deeply into the UVC spectral range and they are sensitive to visible light. Our UV enhanced SiPD detectors have been chemically treated to improve sensitivity to UV light, making them versatile across a broader range of wavelengths, across UVC, UVB, UVA visible light, and near infrared (NIR) spectral ranges. While they may not offer the same level of thermal stability as SiC-based detectors, they excel in applications requiring a broad spectral response, such as water treatment, mineralogy, and environmental monitoring.

Both types of detectors feature high sensitivity, enabling them to detect low-intensity UV radiation, and rapid response times for real-time data monitoring. Their compact design ensures that they can be easily integrated into a variety of systems, whether you’re redesigning an existing setup or building from scratch. Regardless of the choice between SiC and UV-enhanced silicon, you’ll find a product that offers reliability, adaptability, and high performance.

In summary, whether you’re in need of a detector that offers extreme resilience and UV selectivity like our SiC-based models, or require the broad spectral capabilities of UV-enhanced silicon detectors, Marktech Optoelectronics has the perfect solution tailored to your specific UV detection needs.
